This blog highlights the need to strengthen statistical systems in the Caribbean to support evidence-based decision-making. Since 1973, CARICOM has prioritized reliable data, leading to the development of the Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics (RSDS).
The RSDS aims to improve data quality, comparability, and coordination across member states, while addressing challenges such as limited staffing, outdated laws, and increasing data demands.
Approved in 2018, the strategy includes plans for funding, training, IT upgrades, and promoting careers in statistics — all to support sustainable development through better data.
